Black Perle

Beer #1348 is a coffee stout brewed by Weird Beard in Hanwell, London, England.

I’m not a fan of coffee stouts (they tend to concentrate on the coffee but forget it’s meant to be a stout). This one isn’t too bad, it’s quite smooth and creamy, and sweet (due to lactose I’d imagine), and tastes of roasted malt and coffee.

The bottle size is 500ML with an alcohol content of 3.80% (containing approximately 1.50 AU / 1.90 UK standard drinks), and it cost me $10.99.

My Rating is 5.75/10 which means it’s lacking something to make it a genuinely good beer, although it’s drinkable enough.

Brewer Notes:
When you get to that time of day when that cup of hot coffee is no longer the answer, and you need something with a little extra kick, plait your bear, stick on your eye patch and grab a Black Perle. This milk stout is chock full of roasty malts, milk sugar, hopped with hand full’s of perle plundered from the unsuspecting and aged on a chest full of Zamorana coffee beans. Drink with your bacon and eggs in the morning or somebody else’s oysters; free your inner pirate, argh.

3 Minutes to live. 3 Minutes to escape. 3 Minutes free? Yes, it is!
