Cabbages & Kings

Beer #1861 is an imperial stout brewed by Garage Project in Wellington, New Zealand.

A fairly impressive imperial stout, smooth and roasty with a decent chocolate backbone, fairly bitter with a briney and peppery after taste. The 12% ABV is remarkably well hidden.

The bottle size is 650ML with an alcohol content of 12.00% (containing approximately 6.20 AU / 7.80 UK standard drinks), and it cost me $26.00.

My Rating is 6.75/10 which means it’s a great beer but it’s just lacking something for me.

Brewer Notes:
O Oysters, come and walk with us! The Walrus did beseech. Cabbages & Kings, Imperial Oyster Stout, brewed with the more or less willing assistance of ten dozen fresh Te Matuku Bay Pacific oysters, Horopito and Manuka smoked malt. Dark, certainly – and rich with just a suggestion of brine, a touch of smoke and a hint of native New Zealand pepper leaf. ‘A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk, along the briny beach.’
