Beer #1405 is an indian pale ale brewed by Epic Brewing in Auckland, New Zealand.

A fairly average ale, some bitterness with a malty fruitiness but not enough to hide the 7.5% alcohol, as a result it’s slightly winey. It’s okay, but I won’t have it again.

The bottle size is 500ML with an alcohol content of 7.50% (containing approximately 3.00 AU / 3.80 UK standard drinks), and it cost me $9.99.

My Rating is 5.50/10 which means while it’s not bad, it’s also just rather ordinary.

5.50

Brewer Notes:
When Kiwis first started brewing their own beer in the late 19th century, it was modelled on the IPAs imported from the Motherland by ship. This is what we used to drink before industrialisation, prohibition-pleasing law reform and rationalisation turned beer into a one-dimensional mass-produced commodity. At the dawn of the 21st century a brave new age of brewing is bringing back flavour and rediscovering the popular beers that time forgot. What’s old is new again. Enjoy it like it was your first time.
