Xocoveza Mocha Stout

Beer #1735 is a chocolate stout brewed by Stone Brewing Co in Escondido, California, America.

As some of you may be aware, I’m not a big fan of coffee stouts as they tend to taste more like coffee than stouts. This one is slightly different and well above average for this style of beer. The most prominent taste is cocoa with the coffee being not too far behind, but it never overwhelms any other flavour (thankfully). There’s some vanilla, but it’s the spiciness you notice and remember the most. Peppers, cinnamon and nutmeg have been added to the mix to create a rather interesting coffee stout. At 8.1% it’s up there in the Imperial range for me but it never tastes like it, hiding the alcohol very well, and being pretty smooth and very drinkable. This isn’t a classic beer for me, despite writing this much, but it certainly warrants some serious attention.

The bottle size is 640ML with an alcohol content of 8.10% (containing approximately 4.10 AU / 5.20 UK standard drinks), and it cost me $22.99.

My Rating is 6.50/10 which means it’s a very good beer, usually very tasty or bitter (which I love!).
