Beer #2202 is a spiced ale brewed by Stone Brewing Co in Escondido, California, America.

A very enjoyable chili ale, which apparently blends Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard Ale and Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale with many types of chili peppers. It’s supposed to be fiery hot but I found this one to be simply warming, my throat was burning a little at the start but not by halfway down the bottle. It’s sweet and malty and at 9.6% it doesn’t mask the ABV very well, being a bit on the winey side, but it tastes of caramel and fruit. What’s really a crime is the low rating on ratebeer.

The bottle size is 500ML with an alcohol content of 9.60% (containing approximately 3.80 AU / 4.80 UK standard drinks), and it costs $30.00.

My Rating is 7.00/10 which means it’s an excellent beer and well worth hunting down.

Brewer Notes:
This beer was crafted for those who adore both pain and pleasure (but mostly pain), those who should know better and those who don’t know better. It is the result of what many beer enthusiasts would consider a most egregious crime-sequestering Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard Ale and oakedArrogant Bastard Ale in Kentucky bourbon barrels, then blending them together with jalapeƱo, serrano, and other chile peppers. The result is something unsuitable for the faint of heart, mind or palate. Crime was first concocted in 2010, when Stone CEO Greg Koch decided to ruin a beautiful barrel full of Lukcy Basartd Ale by dumping a variety of chile peppers from his backyard garden into the beer. This year’s version is still very hoppy in spite of the barrel aging, with lots of oak and malt. The long finish reveals layers of oak, vanilla, bourbon and malt that synergistically combine to produce complex caramel flavors, with peppers adding pleasant tamarind, subtle tropical flavors and significant heat.
