Jumping The Shark 2014

Beer #1551 is an imperial red ale brewed by Moon Dog in Abbotsford, Victoria, Australia.

This is a full-on offering from Moon Dog at a whopping 14.1% ABV. Apparently it’s an imperial red ale. It has a thick and sticky mouthfeel, is sweet and rich and has an almost overpowering wine-like fruitiness but without the wineyness, despite the high alcohol content. Yes, the alcohol is certainly obvious but you’d never guess how high it was from the taste alone. There is a warmth to it which is either from the alcohol or it’s because it’s been ‘saffron’d’. Did I like it? Yes, it’s certainly different, but I won’t be having it again.

The bottle size is 375ML with an alcohol content of 14.10% (containing approximately 4.20 AU / 5.30 UK standard drinks), and it cost me $25.99.

My Rating is 6.00/10 which means it’s a good solid beer and it comes recommended.
