Lump of Coal

Beer #3296 is a stout brewed by Ridgeway in Oxfordshire, England.

I got two of these just before Christmas, along with their Elf beers (I think I’m missing some in the Elf range though). I’m glad I got two of this because it’s an excellent porter / stout (maybe pouring closer to porter than stout). Very creamy, quite roasty on the tongue, smokey perhaps, sweet, bitter, chocolatey with a hint of coffee (hopefully there’s no real coffee in there!). The mouthfeel is somewhere between a porter and a stout and certainly isn’t thin as I’ve read. The 7.5% ABV is very well hidden.

The bottle size is 500ML with an alcohol content of 7.50% (containing approximately 3.00 AU / 3.80 UK standard drinks), and it costs $9.99.

My Rating is 7.00/10 which means it’s an excellent beer and well worth hunting down.
